10am – 5pm
This little-known technique offers watercolor enthusiasts the opportunity to enter the world of printmaking with a ‘familiar’ process, rich in possibilities and with a strong expressive impact.
Matilde Dolcetti and Sergio Bigolin will introduce the workday, showing participants how the effect of the brushstroke is enriched with color and fluidity thanks to the printing press.
Alessia De Bortoli, Printmaker and Book-Artist, will guide the participants through all the stages of creating and printing their works.

Monotype watercolor printing yields “surprise” results. Wet paper reactivates the dried pigments on the plates, creating fluidity effects that often diminish shortly after the brushstroke.
With the guidance of registration, the transferred image can be refined and altered in subsequent passes, creating unique pieces as well as limited “variable” editions. Polycarbonate, aluminum, or varnished cardboard plates can also be hand-printed using thin paper.
The watercolor plates will be developed and reworked until the final result is achieved through individual and group projects, in small “variable” editions, to be assembled in interchangeable portfolios among participants: one copy will be added to the Scuola’s collection.
