Painted Monotype

Friday 12 January 2024
10am – 5pm

An intensive 6-hour workshop with Alessia De Bortoli

The monotype technique combines the printing process with the spontaneity of painting. It consists in the direct application of ink onto matrices which can be made of various materials and which must be smooth, not engraved. The rapid and versatile process allows you to create, with the use of the intaglio press, a unique print example.

More information

During the workshop, we will be present examples of monotype printing, materials and tools suitable for the technique and explore its expressive possibilities. The students will be guided in the creation of their own matrices and will create unique and unrepeatable prints.

The inks used for the workshop are sustainable and do not require the use of solvents, allowing you to work with a wide choice of bright colours; the prints will be made on Fabriano printing paper.

Alessia De Bortoli
