Your donation will sustain our fellowships, exhibitions and other non fees based programs.
Upon acceptance into the program, all artists are required to pay a 30% inscription fee, which is non-refundable.
The remaining 70% balance is due at the start of the program.
Resident artists are provided with a private bedroom at Palazzo Dandolo, the residence of the Scuola’s Arts Director, Matilde Dolcetti. The bathroom may be shared with another artist-in-residence or an occasional guest. The kitchen and other common areas are shared with the proprietor.
If, after the deposit has been paid, the reserved accommodation becomes unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances, the Scuola will offer an alternative arrangement or refund the amounts already paid by the artist.
NB: The main hall facing the Grand Canal may be used for temporary exhibitions and events, such as the Biennale or other exhibitions.
Artists who cancel within 30 days before the start of the program will be required to pay 50% of their residency fees.
The Scuola is happy to assist artists seeking external funding by providing a formal letter of acceptance into the program.
Studio residents have open access to the Scuola’s studio facilities, with their own keys to the building. They are welcome to use the facilities seven days a week, from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM, including bank holidays.
Artists are encouraged to participate in presentations and critiques alongside students and fellow residents. When scheduled, resident artists may also attend classes and workshops at the Scuola at no additional cost.

Alternative methods for creating aquatints are available, using substitutes for the traditional aquatint box and rosin.
One of the Scuola’s defining principles is its commitment to providing a less toxic environment for artists. Those unfamiliar with sustainable printmaking methods are encouraged to attend introductory courses to learn techniques that minimize environmental impact.

Artists must provide their own materials, including brushes and pencils. Gloves, tarlatan, colored inks, etching paper, copper, aluminum, wood, and zinc can be purchased at the Scuola’s studio or local stores.
Artists must handle studio equipment with care and return all tools to their designated places after use. Equipment must never be removed from the Scuola. Each morning, a staff member checks all equipment, printing characters, inks, rollers, brushes, etc.
Books in the studio and library must be returned to their place after use and cannot be taken out of the Scuola.
Shipping goods to Italy can be complicated, as customs may block items and require additional paperwork. We strongly discourage artists from shipping items such as:
These items are likely to be checked by customs. Unfortunately, the Scuola cannot provide assistance in dealing with customs issues.
The Scuola welcomes artists of all genders, ethnicities, political and sexual orientations, and physical abilities in its studios.
All studio resident artists are required to donate at least one artwork created during their residency to the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica print collection.
